My Baby is Growing Up

Okay, I don't think I'm ready for this. Brenley is growing up too fast. I feel like she has taken off in the past week or two.
First she started sitting up. That was great, we were so proud of her. Then her scooting advanced and was/is almost a crawl. She can move fast. We've got to keep an eye on her all the time. Then one day I went in to get her after a nap and she had pulled herself up on her knees, holding onto the bars, and was bouncing up and down, crying. She continued to pull up on everything until yesterday Al caught her pulling herself up all the way to her feet(He got a few pictures of it too, see below)!!! She's done it a few times since then. In fact tonight after we put her to bed she started crying. I went in to check on her and she was standing up in her crib, holding onto the side. Good thing we lowered the crib the other day!
So, once again, I am not ready for this. This is all happening too fast, she's only six months old! Don't get me wrong it's a great thing, we are so proud of her, but I'm not sure my emotions can handle it. It has really all happened within a week or two. I'm blown away. People have always told me to enjoy it because it goes so fast, but I never imagined it would go this fast!
Here she is, the first time to pull up in her crib. She was crying, but like any good blogger, I ran to get my camera instead of picking her up. It was still dark so I didn't get her knees, I don't know why I didn't think to turn on the lights, she was already awake.
Pulling up to her basket and digging for toys.
She pulled up on Daddy's briefcase. (Look at that tongue, she's always sticking it out)
Here it is. Al caught her pulling all the way up to her feet!!! WOW!!!
Looks a little awkward. She's so strong.
My big girl is growing up so fast!!!

Swimming

Brenley got to go swimming for the first time the other day. We were over at my parents the other night and we were all hanging out by the pool. We thought we'd just put Brenley's feet in the water, but that turned into stripping her down and playing in the water. She loved it!!! The water was a bit cool, but she didn't seem to mind. She splashed and jumped and had a blast. This is going to be a fun summer. I can't wait to put on her cute little swimming suit and get out there with her. Hope you enjoy the pictures of my little fish :)
So fun!
Please excuse the naked pictures :) She loved it!
WOW!

My Birthday

Birthdays have always been wonderful, a day when your loved ones pour out some extra love on you. This year was even better because it was my first birthday to get to spend it with Brenley.
Turning 29 was bitter sweet. I don't mind getting older, but there's something about being 29, it means I am so close to being 30, half way to 60! That can't be right. I don't feel old enough. My mom assures me that the 30's are some of the best years. I'm not there yet, but it's so close!
I had a wonderful birthday. I went shopping with Susan, a delicious dinner with my parents, cake with family, a pedicure with Sabrina and her mom, and lots of attention from my sweet husband. It's been a wonderful birthday and Brenley was all smiles through the whole thing!
Let's get ready to go shopping!!!

First Foods

We started solid foods the other day. I thought Brenley was just not getting enough, so I had to break down and do it. I was wanting to wait as long as I could. We had a good thing going with nursing and I didn't want to interrupt that.
I decided to start with bananas. I'm skipping all the cereals because I think they are just fillers with no nutrition in them. She has had bananas and sweet potatoes so far. She's not as crazy about the sweet potatoes, but she'll get there. I am following in my sister's footsteps and making my own baby food. So far it seems easy and practical. I know it will get harder the more she eats. We're trying to do all organic foods for as long as we can. If only we ate as well as we are going to feed Brenley :)
She LOVES her bananas. She did so great the first time. She still has a hard time opening her mouth, but she sucks the food off of the spoon. She leans into the spoon and therefore gets it all over her face. Then, in between bites she sucks her thumb. I'm not sure what that's about, but it's cute.
Of course, being new parents, we took tons of pictures and got it all on video. I'm still not sure how to download the video, but I picked some of the cutest pictures.
This is my favorite...so cute!
Not too sure about this food

Mom, I want some more!!!

Our Friend Susan

Al and I were so blessed when we were in Biloxi. We met some amazing friends, Lynn and Susan, who lived across the street from us in the campground. Lynn is an insurance adjuster and he was working claims from hurricane Katrina. Susan and I hit it off immediately. We hung out everyday, and our dogs were crazy about each other as well. They invited us to their home in Dothan, Alabama a few times, we had a blast. They treated us like family.
Well, a few weeks ago Susan called and said in her cute southern accent, "Angie, honey, we're coming to Texas!" She asked if we were anywhere close to Bedford. For those of you who don't know the area, that's right down the road from us.
So, they got here a couple of weeks ago but have been so busy working claims that we hadn't had a chance to get together. Lynn is still super busy, so Susan came over yesterday and spent the day with us. She got to meet Brenley, see our house, and we let the dogs go crazy. We had a great time catching up. Brenley and I are going to go see her tomorrow and go shopping. Then hopefully we can have them both out so the boys can catch up as well.
It's so fun to have friends like them. We thought we might not ever get to see them again, but then they show up practically in our backyard :)

My mom stopped by to meet Susan and of course to see Brenley.
