Country Time

We had a good time in Clyde the other weekend. We went for Al's 15 year High School reunion. It was fun to see him transformed back to a High School kid and meet a lot of people he grew up with.

We also squeezed in some time out a the Circle B to ride the 4 wheeler. I LOVE riding that thing and so does Bren. She's so cute. She just jabbers away the whole time we're on there but we can't understand much of what she says because it's noisy. But we have a great time.

She and Dagan were headed out to the hay bales, but the trip got cut short because she had stickers all over her. But it made for a sweet picture.

We also got to go see an HSU football game. They have a perfect, kid friendly area in the end zone where the kids can play and the parents can watch the game. It was really fun! And the Cowboys won which made it even better!

Another cute shot of these two!

Anything You Can Do I Can Do Too

The girls already have a little sibling rivalry going on. When Brenley does something, Brooklyn wants to do it and when Brooklyn does something, Brenley wants to do it. Occasionally it makes for cute pictures. Here are some of those times.

Cute girls standing on the chairs

Ha ha ha, this is so much fun!!!

They looked pretty focused here.

Holding up their animals for me. Whenever Brooklyn and I go get Brenley up from her nap she always wants in the crib with Bren. When Brenley is in the mood, sometimes she will let Brooklyn in. This was one of those days and Brooklyn thought it was pretty cool!
(Yes, our almost three year old is still in a crib. She's getting a big girl bed for her birthday, so stay tuned for the big girl bed reveal!)

Silly girls playing in the bath.

I love these two. They make me laugh all the time!

Texas State Fair

We got to go to the fair this year and we had a blast!

There is so much to do there that would could have spent all day and we still wouldn't have made it to everything. But we were thrilled with the things we decided to do.

Of course we had to try out the petting zoo. Here we are feeding a donkey. They had signs that said the donkey might bite, so we made sure we used the shovel.

Ever seen one of these??? It's an Alpaca (s/p?) Funny looking animal.

Bren did a great job of feeding the goats

They had this little kids farm called "Little Hands on the Farm." It was fabulous. They gave each kid an apron and a bucket and sent them off to the different stations. Here she was riding her tractor out to feed the pigs and the cows.

Here you go piggy

Planting a seed. When she was done she got to pick up a vegetable to put in her basket.

Milking the cow. Then the lady gave her a carton of milk to put in her basket.

Feeding the chickens and gathering an egg to put in her basket.
Then when they had gone to all the stations they went to the market to "sell" their goods and got paid for their work. They were allowed to take their money to the store and buy a treat. Brenley bought some cookies. But this whole thing was free. I thought it was great at teaching the kids how to work for money and to teach them where our food actually comes from. We all loved it!

Bren got to ride her first ride all by herself and the LOVED it!!! She was a little hesitant at first, but it didn't take her long before she had a HUGE smile on her face!

She also got to ride the carousel with Daddy. What a special treat!!!

We also got to see the dog trick show. It was really fun and was a perfect chance to sit, relax, feed the baby and Al got to try out the famous fried Frito pie. Of course we had already eaten a Fletcher's corn dog...there is no better corn dog! We passed on the other fried treats, but if we had seen the fried smores pop tart, I think we would have indulged a little more!!!

We had a great time at the fair. Yes, Brooklyn was there even though she didn't make it into any of the pictures. She will enjoy it a little more next year.

Want to Know What Else Brooklyn Can Do???

She Can Walk!!!

She is not walking full time. Just today she started taking more steps and getting back up after she had fallen down to start over again. Can't wait to see what she'll do tomorrow!!!

Brooklyn Can...

Our second born daughter is multi talented, just like her sister! She is so spirited and sweet and such a joy to be around (unless you ask the nursery workers at church. They usually have to call me to come and get her during ladies' life group on Tuesdays. Once Mama gets there, all of her problems seem to disappear. I don't mind one bit!)

Brooklyn can...

Crawl up into the dishwasher. She loves playing with the silverware. She's quite the climber!

Ride her car, well sit on it and go backwards :)

Feed herself. She still has no teeth, but she loves to feed herself. If anyone else is eating "real" food, then she usually refuses her baby food. So we've had to get creative with what she can eat until she gets some teeth.
This was her first time to eat spaghetti...she obviously loved it!

Read Books. She loves to read and be read to. She likes to chew on the books too ;)

Stand up on her own. She has even taken a couple steps recently. Everyday I try to practice with her and she will take up to three steps before she falls into me. She loves it and thinks she is hot stuff. It's precious!

Drink from a sippy cup. She is in the process of weaning from Mommy and it's going pretty well because she loves to drink out of her sister's sippy cups. I went out and bought her a new sippy cup like Brenley had when she was this age and Brooklyn doesn't like it at all. She wants to drink out of Brenley's. It's a good thing I'm not a stickler about germs. I don't mind them sharing at all.

Crawl in and out of the bumbo. This is one of her favorite things to do. Entertainment for a whole 10 minutes!

She can do many other things too.
  • She can sign "more" when she wants to eat or wants more.
  • She loves to crawl down the hall when Brenley is asleep and try to get in her room. She loves her sister.
  • She can wave and does it on command
  • She gives big, sweet, slobbery kisses :)
  • She loves to sleep with her puppy, just like her big sister.
  • She can sit facing forward in her car seat!!! Loves it!
I'm sure this list could go on and on, but that's it for now.
We are so proud of our sweet little angel! We love you Brooklyn Mallory! You have stolen our hearts!

Lions Tigers and Bears Oh My

The Fort Worth Zoo is amazing! It's even more amazing on a fabulous fall day with friends. We had a great time and loved seeing all the beautiful animals. I had more fun seeing Brenley's reaction to the animals than anything else. She cracks me up.

At one point we saw a big bronze alligator. When she walked around the corner and saw it, she dropped what she was doing and ran back around the corner, crying. She thought it was real and it took a long time to convince her that it wasn't. I know she was really upset, but it was pretty funny.

When she saw the lions she kept her hands over her ears because she thought he was going to roar and be really loud.

Riding the train...Bren's favorite part.

Precious girl looking out the window of the carriage.

Nana, Mommy, and the girls.

We had a great time. It will be even more fun as the girls get bigger.

Being Sick Is No Fun

My sweet girls have always been very healthy. But this summer they came down with this cough that knocked them down. I'll spare you all the details, I just wanted to show you some pictures that I thought were cute and sad at the same time.

Brooklyn broke out in hives this weekend. I think she might have developed an allergy to bananas. Poor thing, that's her favorite food! I very well might be wrong. We'll give them a break for now and try them again in a month or so. Poor baby looked awful though.

My sweet neighbor let us borrow her son's nebulizer and I just put salt water in it to help clear out all their nasal passages. Bren did really well with it because it was Michael's and she thinks he's pretty cool! Brooklyn hated the thing!

We took Brooklyn to Cook Urgent Care one Sunday evening. I thought this picture was funny because Brenley wanted to be in on the action and tried so hard to get up on the table.

Sweet Brooklyn at the doctor. She felt awful that night, but no matter bow bad she felt, she wanted to take that id tag off her ankle!

Praise the Lord, the girls are now perfectly healthy! They are going for their One and Three year old well baby visits next week. I'm looking forward to seeing what he says :)
