Christmas With the Ruth Clan

Christmas is always my favorite time of year. I love it because we celebrate the birth of Jesus and because all the people that I love are all together. This year was especially sweet with Baby Hudson being only one week old. The Hunters drove in from St. Louis on Christmas day, so we had our big Ruth Clan Christmas the day after. Growing up we always traveled up to Missouri to visit all of our family so we never had Christmas on Christmas morning and that was and still is just fine with us. Christmas is whenever everyone can do it.

My Mom fixed a fabulous lunch and then we sent the kids to bed to take a good nap before all the fun began!

This one is a little out of order...Brenley playing with some new presents.

My Mom made all the girls these adorable night gowns to wear. They have practically lived in them the last week. They look so sweet in them. Canon had little red pants to match and Brooklyn had a night gown too!

Pops was Santa and the big girls were happy to help pass out the stockings and all the gifts. My Mom had 17 stockings on her mantle this year. One for everyone there, plus one for my Grandpa who got to join us and one for Jesus :)
Shelly got to catch up on the birth of the new baby.

Nana and her newest grandson, Hudson.

Precious Grandpa Bob. We were thrilled he was able to be here with us this year!
Carley loved him because he loved on her a lot.

It had been a long day of eating and presents, the boys had to take a little nap during the football game.

2nd Annual Nativity Scene

Last year my mom had the wonderful idea to make a new tradition of having the kids reenact the birth of Jesus. The kids love getting dressed up and all the girls want to be Mary. It's really precious to see their love of baby Jesus. Atley and Avery have always had a special affection for baby Jesus because they share the same birthday!

This year the kids we so excited to put on their costumes. My Mom found some great animal costumes, but they just need a little tweaking for next year. Brenley decided she wanted to be a dove bird, Canon was Joseph, Atley was an angel, Brooklyn was a donkey, Avery was Mary, and Champ was baby Jesus.

It didn't go quite as we had planned. We had a couple melt downs and with 6 kids 4 and under, their attention spans don't last very long. Once we got them into place we all sang Away in a Manger and Silent Night. It was a pretty sweet moment to stop and think about the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

My Dove and Donkey :)

Precious Mary and Baby Jesus

The cutest donkey I've ever seen!

Pretty dove bird flying in the air :)

And the handsome Joseph won best costume!

Our sweet angel needed some lovin from her Daddy so I didn't get a picture of her.

Merry Christmas precious children!

Christmas Letter 2010

Dear Family and Friends,

Merry Christmas! I pray that you all have had a blessed year and are enjoying the goodness of our Savior during this joyous season.

This year has been another wonderful year for our family. It has been such a joy to watch our girls grow and watch their relationship develop. They love each other so much and want to do everything that the other one does.

Brenley just turned three years old and blows us away with how smart she is. We are always amazed at all of the little things that she remembers. She is beautiful and spunky and always willing to help, especially in the kitchen. Brenley is a great cook J She keeps us active all the time as she is always looking for a playmate. It will be great to see the girls play together more as Brooklyn gets older. Brenley is so much fun, we can’t believe how much she’s grown.

Brooklyn is now 14 months old. She learned to walk a couple months ago and soon after that she was running. It is so precious to watch her tiny little body running across the room. She is pretty sweet and laid back until it’s time to eat…the kid loves to eat. Even though she only has one tooth, she manages to eat everything we do. Brooklyn is such a joy and we adore every minute with her.

Al finished up another year at Everman HS and decided it was time to move closer to home. He was blessed with his dream job, back at his old school in Keller, Central HS. He’s teaching Algebra 2 and will be coaching baseball this spring. He is loving it and he can’t wait to get back out on the field soon. Al continues to stay busy mowing yards and hunting. This year he layed all new wood floors in our house and he did a fabulous job! He is a terrific handy man! The girls just adore him.

I continue to love staying at home with my girls. I’m only keeping one baby two, sometimes three days a week so it has freed up some of our days for things like ladies’ life group and play dates and lots of trips to Target J It’s been a really fun year and I am living my dream of being able raise our girls at home. I feel so blessed.

We pray that you are all blessed as well this Christmas. It’s such a joy to celebrate the birth of our Savior. We pray that you would seek after Him and know that He loves each one of you very much.

Love,

Al, Angie, Brenley, and Brooklyn Buster

Sweet Baby Hudson

My brother Danny and his wife Amber had their first baby a couple weeks ago. Sweet baby Hudson was born December 18, 2010 and he is absolutely perfect! Amber did a fabulous job during labor! She made it look easy :) And they have slid into the parenting role like pros! They are so good with him!

We are so blessed to add Hudson Brownlee Ruth to our growing family. He is the 7th grand baby for my parents and the oldest just turned 4. These sweet kids are going to have lots of fun together over the years!

He is Mr. Hudson sleeping in his own bed.

Amber looking beautiful after labor
(Don't you love her hospital gown...I made it! It looks great on her!)

I was so blessed to be able to be up there all day before he was born. It was a treat to be able to be a part of Danny and Amber's special day.

We love you Hudson!

We've Been Busy

Brenley and I have been busy baking and decorating for Christmas. My adorable assistant loved helping and really loved making a mess. Brenley and I had fun, even if her attention span was only about 10 minutes. She always came back to help me taste all the goodies...the best part!

Making Christmas cookies

Our sweet little gingerbread house. I waited to take a picture until all the mess was cleaned up!

Making the icing for the gingerbread house. So focused :)

She didn't like the noise from the mixer. She's so funny.

I'm looking forward to making more years of cooking with my girls. I hope every year gets a little better ;)
