State Fair of Texas

We had such a great time at the State Fair this year. For the past couple years Al has taken off work so we can go during the week. We always have a blast!
This year we asked Nana to come along and we are so glad we did! She's so much fun!

One of our favorite things to do at the fair is the Little Hands on the Farm. They give the kids an apron to wear and a basket to take around to all the different stations. Then they get to pretend to be a farmer and do things like feed the chickens, shear the sheep...
take pictures with your Nana...
milk the cows...
plant, water and harvest your crops...

feed the pigs...
Then after they've gone through all the stations they get to sell their produce at the store. They lady gives them some money and they get to buy something from the store. It's the cutest thing and the girls really loved it!

Then we went to the petting zoo. The best petting zoo I've ever been to.
Of course we have to stop and pose for some cute pictures.

Lunch time was a delicious Fletchers corn dog! Brooklyn's first one...she almost ate the whole thing!
While we ate we watched the dog show...so fun!
You can't go to the fair without seeing Big Tex!
Al had to try a buffalo chicken in a flapjack. He loved it! I wanted to try a fried s'more but I had already had my limit of fried foods after one corn dog.
Brenley rode a flying elephant ride and Brooklyn watched from the side. After that Brooklyn decided she wanted to give it a try too. So they got into their whale and took off...so happy.
But after two times around Brooklyn changed her mind. She was thinking this wasn't such a good idea.
It wasn't long after that she lost it and was ready to get off.
She rode the whole time, crying. Poor baby. I think that was enough of the carnival rides for her.

Somehow I didn't get the picture on here of Brenley and Nana on the BIG ferris wheel. Al and I were pretty sure that Brenley might freak out up that high, but she LOVED it! She is fearless!!!

We needed two full day at the fair to do everything we want to do, but the girls were tired and so were we. We loved our time at the state fair and can't wait to do it again next year!
